LG Refrigerator Extended Coverage Area for Sealed System Refrigeration Repair

We specialize in LG refrigeration sealed system repair and offer an extended coverage area of roughly 60 miles from our location in Wabash, Indiana, in most directions. Any exceptions to the range are determined by us, based on availability and other communication with the customer.  We do have our extended travel area for this brand restricted to 5 - 10-year-old LG refrigerators. I'll explain 1 to 5 years in the next paragraph, as well as refrigerators above ten further down the page, as well as our intended audience with LG refrigerators in the 5 to 10-year-old range. This includes LG French door (freezer on bottom), LG side by side (freezer on left, refrigerator on right), and LG upright (freezer on top) refrigerators. We know that there aren't a lot of service companies that want to mess with sealed system refrigeration repairs, and even fewer that don't want to mess with LG sealed system repairs. We've got you covered! The sealed system refers to the system that houses the freon and all components involved within that system that provide the cooling effect. The compressor, evaporator or evaporators, condenser, drier, on some models a switching valve, and all lines running to and from that the refrigerant passes through in a gas and liquid phase, attracting heat from the interior cabinet and displacing it outside of the unit. Rinse and repeat this process until your desired temperature is achieved. This system is what we travel for in this extended LG coverage area.

LG Refrigerators Within 5 Years From Date of Purchase

Every manufacturer handles things differently. With an LG refrigerator, from the date of purchase to 1 year, everything is covered. All other LG appliances that are 1 year old are fully covered as well. However, if you do not have a service company in the area that handles LG warranty, you will enter the same service locator system that I will explain below. After that, you have an extended 1 to 5 years, and not a day over, sealed system full coverage. That means it has to be a refrigerator AND freezer that is NOT COOLING AT ALL. Those words are capitalized because they are important. You will have to call LG to start the process at 1(800) 243-0000. Please just tell them "my refrigerator and freezer are not cooling at all" and leave out all symptoms that lead to the point, if it was a gradual warm-up over a period of time. It will help your request get to the next part of the process faster. You will have to jump through some self-testing hoops in most cases. If your manufacturer's date exceeds 5 years and you cannot provide proof of purchase, this may cause problems. As authorized service companies, we have to go by the manufacturer's date, regardless of when you purchased it, without proof of purchase. There is no way around this. However, if you make it to the next part of the process, then you're ok. Once you make it past the 1st part of the process, you will go into a system that sends out a mass email to all authorized service companies near and far. Service companies get 1 email a day to bid on the job for 3 days, being the last and final offer. The next day, the company with the lowest bid will receive an email indicating they got the job. Now we are 4 days from this making it the service locator system. It will now take up 72 hours in our experience to receive the information and final confirmation. Until the winning bid company receives this information, we cannot reach out to the customer, because we have no information about the customer. We only know what zip code and that you have a refrigerator that's not cooling. If you fall into this category with an LG refrigerator not cooling, I hope this helps you understand the process and the need for patience and preparation for food storage in the near term until the refrigerator gets fixed.

LG Refrigerators 5 to 10 Years Old

For LG refrigerators not cooling from the age of 5 years and 1 day and under 10 years old. This is much easier to deal with, with the exception of no more service, labor, or materials coverage provided by LG. At this point, the compressor is covered by LG. If you cannot provide proof of purchase, we have to go by the manufacturer's date.  The proof of purchase has to be a bill of sale, either digital or a paper copy. It cannot be a charge on a statement from your credit card company or bank. If you manufacturer's date shows the unit is 10 and 1 month old, but you know you bought it 8 years ago and have no receipt, we have to use the manufacturer's date. Meaning there is no warranty left on the compressor. If everything is good and you have proof of purchase or your manufacturer's date falls within 5 years and 1 day or less than 10, it's a simple phone call or text from here to our business number , and Brooke will communicate availability and other details. You can also fill out our service request form on our site or email us at jonathangidley983@gmail.com. You will set up service with us, and we will process the warranty on the compressor. Depending on the distance, in most cases you will have $600-$800 total with material and service charge Within the extended coverage area. This gives you a rough idea of what to expect with pricing before you reach out.

LG Refrigerators Over 10 Years Old

If your LG refrigerator is over 10 years old, there is no warranty left on the unit. We will still travel for the repair if you choose, but the overall cost is higher at this point. You can expect $1000-$1500, depending on the distance and cost of the compressor your refrigerator requires. Some are willing to repair versus the replacement cost of $3000 and up, and some would like to just start fresh and buy a new refrigerator. I hope this helps with a more informed decision without wasted time on the phone trying to find someone who will even work on an LG in your area.

LG Refrigerator Sealed System Symptoms

The most common symptom, or customer complaint, is that my refrigerator is not cooling in either the refrigerator or the freezer section. This can come on all of a sudden or over time, depending on the type of sealed system failure your refrigerator experiences. On the more progressive track to a refrigerator not cooling, it's hardly noticeable at 1st. You may notice your ice cream is a little softer, things in your refrigerator will freeze on certain shelves, or your ice maker may stop working. An ice maker requires temperatures below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. So when they stop working due to a progressive cooling issue, the temperature is still sufficient to cool the refrigerator well, and the freezer pretty good. The time frame can be 2 weeks or 2 months, or more, then it gets worse! Now it won't keep things frozen in the freezer, but the refrigerator will still cool okay. This is because the refrigerator is maintaining a lower temperature and is the last section to suffer. Unless you have a dual evaporator system, where both sections cool independently. Regardless of single evaporator or a dual evaporator, when your freezer temperature starts to suffer, it's time to call for service. The failures, more abrupt in nature, unfortunately, don't give you warning signs. One day, you come home from work, back from vacation, or wake up in the morning to melting, or melted foods that were frozen solid a day before frozen solid. It's always a good idea to have at least a thermometer in the freezer section so you can see drastic changes in temperature. You can purchase thermometers on Amazon that smart connect through your WIFI to your phone and set alerts for high temperature. A great way to get ahead of these problems before they result in a loss of food. Food is not cheap these days, no one wants to lose an entire load due to a refrigerator failure. It happens a lot! In any case, these are symptoms that we travel for. The temperature in the freezer will fluctuate less than the refrigerator section due to lower traffic in most homes than in the refrigerator section. The freezer does go through a defrost cycle once a day, at which point, the temperature can reach 10 to 15 degrees. This is a normal part of the overall process and is very necessary. It will only last 25-35 minutes, and then it's back to the cooling cycle. So, if you monitor your temperature through a device, and your set temp for the freezer is 0 degrees, it will fluctuate 0-10 in most cases. When you start seeing temperatures 20 degrees and above in the freezer, you may have problems. Especially if after an hour or 2 it's not making its way back to your set point of 0 degrees.

The trickiest thing about refrigeration sealed system issues is that a lot of the symptoms can look the same as other component failures outside of the sealed system involved in the overall cooling process. You could have an evaporator fan motor, a condenser fan motor, an air damper motor, temperature thermistors, defrost issues, and main control failure in some fashion. All of those failures can present similar symptoms to what was described above for the more gradual sealed system failure. However, the always faithful sealed system issues all end the same way, regardless of how other component failures resemble them. With a refrigerator that can no longer do its main job for you, cool your food in either section! With a lot of LG sealed system failures, you'll hear everything running as if it should be cooling, including the compressor. Inside the compressor, regardless of the noises it's making, it is no longer able to move refrigerant through its liquid and gas phases, or it has lost its refrigerant from a leak that has developed. I hope that after reading the information on this page, you will have a more realistic outlook on the path to a repaired or replacement refrigerator.
