We are insured, factory authorized and have all the required tooling. We have the Sub-Zero OEM parts connection, technical training and support we need to get the job done. We hold Sub-Zero in very high regard and value our partnership with them. The company from top to bottom is trying harder than any other appliance company out there to serve their customers, partners and employees alike. They are trying harder than the rest to engineer their products to last with the best parts available. Unfortunately, the best of today’s parts is not like the best of parts 30 + years ago. It’s just the cold hard truth and is not limited to appliances. We’ve all watched it unfold across the board! They are still achieving great longevity overall despite this trend and are quick to resolve failures and engineer updates to correct reoccurring product or part problems once found in the field.
EXTENDED COVERAGE AREA FOR SUB-ZERO SEALED SYSTEMS
We offer an extended coverage area for Sub-Zero Refrigeration Sealed System Repairs with a radius of roughly 60 miles from our location in Wabash, Indiana. The extended coverage area is limited to refrigerator or freezers 5 years or older with sealed system failures in this total extended covered area. The sealed system refers to the system that houses the freon and all components involved within that system that provide the cooling effect. The compressor, relay or inverter control on linear compressors, evaporators, condenser, drier and all lines running to and from that the refrigerant passes through in a gas and liquid phase, attracting heat from the interior cabinet and displacing it outside of the unit. We offer a coverage area extending to 60 miles in most directions from our location for problems to this system. Any exceptions beyond 60 miles will be determined by us, taking availability and other factors into consideration.
However, before you call you will want to verify a few things:
First, is your refrigerator or freezer still under full warranty?
If your Sub-Zero is still under a full warranty you will want to reach out to Sub-Zero customer service 1st at (800) 222-7820 to let them do their thing locating the service provider best suited for your area.
Second, is this a complete no cool in the refrigerator section or the freezer and is it 5+ years old?
If your Sub-Zero refrigerator does not meet the complete no cool in one section parameter, does not fall into the 5 + year old age range, and you’re not in our regular coverage for Sub-Zero we may or may not accept the job within this extended coverage.
Third, do you have a factory authorized service company closer than us that can offer you a faster turnaround time?
You can search by your zip code herehttps://www.subzero-wolf.com/locator#type=service-parts or call Subzero customer service at (800) 222-7820 to find out if there are closer authorized companies for the repair.
sub-zero
Sub-Zero is unique in their sealed system design. In the models that are both a refrigerator and freezer in one product, both sections are cooled independently. Unlike most manufacturers who offer dual evaporator setups like this. Sub-Zero has 2 compressors versus most manufacturers 1 compressor. The only connected component is the condenser and only in the sense that the entire condenser must be replaced if the refrigerator or freezer part of the condenser is defective. This means if your refrigerator compressor dies the freezer will keep going without a hitch or vice versa. In most manufacturers dual evaporator systems, if any sealed system component goes out you lose all or most cooling in both sections due to the fully connected nature of the system. Also, what sets them apart is the warranties on the sealed systems. If the unit is installed by a factory authorized servicer you will have a 3-year standard warranty, a full 5-year sealed system warranty, and then a limited parts warranty of up to 12 years on all sealed system parts. From 5 to 12 years old the customer will cover all necessary travel costs, service, labor, and materials outside of the sealed system parts that Sub-Zero will cover. Beyond 12 years from the date of purchase the customer will be responsible for all parts and other charges for the repair.
Although our extended coverage area does not include Sub-Zero units under 5 years old in all directions, we have extended our reach to several zip codes in Fort Wayne, Indiana for Sub-Zero products. These zip codes are submitted to Sub-Zero meaning you can use the locator webpage to see if you fall within our reach for your Wolf product at https://www.subzero-wolf.com/locator#type=service-parts or call Subzero customer service at (800)222-7820.
Here are some symptoms of a sealed system failure:
- Customer complaint - My refrigerator or freezer section is not getting cold anymore. I hear a fan running but no cooling at all.
- Customer complaint – My refrigerator or freezer section is not cold enough.
In most cases when we get these complaints the section that has stopped cooling or is not cooling well enough has a compressor that is seized up, open circuit in the windings that the relay uses to power the pump, a failed valve in the compressor, a refrigerant leak or blockage in the sealed system not allowing the refrigerant to circulate at all or sufficiently to produce the cooling effect.

The 1st customer complaint is usually a little easier to relay information to a service provider. A seized compressor on older units usually comes with a sound like something trying to start for several seconds followed by a click when the overload cuts power to the start terminal on the relay, but not always. There is the possibility of a relay failure or a newer linear compressor that is controlled with an inverter control acting as the relay for the variable speed compressor. You may not hear those noises in those situations. The primary thing to note and pass on to the provider is whether the fan inside the failed section of you Sub-Zero is running or not while the unit is turned on and should be cooling. Sometimes you must open the door of the section that’s not cooling and press the door switch or use a magnet on the read switch to get the fan to run with the door open. If this condition is present, it is usually a good indication that you have a sealed system issue. The evaporator fan motor is tied to the same circuit as the compressor and the condenser fan motor. The fact that only one sections cooling is affected helps us rule out the condenser fan motor or both sections would be affected by the failed component. Also, because the evaporator fan motor is running, we know the compressor should be running. This brings us to the high probability of a sealed system failure conclusion prior to arrival. We try to come prepared based on age, model, and symptoms with the highest probability parts for same day repair to the best of our ability. These symptoms can show up gradually or overnight depending on the type of sealed system failure you experience.
The 2nd complaint and the trickiest thing with refrigeration sealed system issues is that a lot of the symptoms can look the same as other component failures outside of the sealed system involved in the overall cooling process. You could have an evaporator fan motor, a condenser fan motor, temperature thermistors, cold control, defrost issues, and main control failure in some fashion. All those failures can present similar symptoms to what was described above for the more gradual sealed system failure. However, the always faithful sealed system issues all end the same way, regardless of how other component failures resemble them. With a refrigerator or freezer that can no longer do its main job for you, cool your food in the affected section! I hope that after reading the information on this page, you will have a more understanding of the path to a repaired or Sub-Zero refrigerator or freezer.
